The Technology Services Unit promotes creativity, innovation and integrated information technology solutions. The TS units works in close collaboration with other NRPS Units in order to provide the best service possible for the use and implementation of information and technology in policing.

Technology Services responsibilities and objectives include:

  • Establishment and maintenance of a multi-year Information Technology Strategic Plan
  • Management of the NRPS core IT infrastructure and service-wide network, including but not limited to, administrative systems and information management, networking, telecommunications, 7x24 data center, information security and privacy, data integrity, office automation and collaborative applications, IT shared services, accessible technology, and technology business continuity
  • Delivering an effective and efficient Service and Change Management to over 1,000 members
  • Supporting technologies used by the 9-1-1 Emergency Answering Service and Police Dispatch Communications Operations
  • Management and support of the Public Safety Voice Radio and Mobile Data systems
  • Maintaining and supporting the Records Management System (RMS) and Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) applications
  • Maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all voice, data, video, image and wireless systems
  • Negotiating and overseeing large technical contracts, software licencing and permits for various technology services including design and construction projects
  • Taking accountability for the efficient, effective operation of NRPS' technology systems on a 24/7 basis
