The Niagara Region has unique policing challenges: the combination of urban and rural development; the large annual influx of tourists; its proximity to the United States; the effect of the nation's busiest border crossings; a major summer cottage population in varying communities; and a waterfront shoreline that surrounds the Region on three sides.

To address all of these challenges the Niagara Regional Police Service has members who assume a variety of policing roles. From regular uniformed patrol officers to specialized forensic specialists and emergency tactics officers, the members of this Service work hard every day to keep Niagara safe.
