Deputy Chief Luigi Greco

 

Deputy Chief Luigi Greco is a lifelong resident of the Niagara Region and he began his career with the Niagara Regional Police Service in 1997 as an Auxiliary Member, before becoming a Special Constable.   

In 1998, Deputy Chief Greco was hired as a Recruit officer and completed the Basic Constable Training at the Ontario Police College. 

Throughout his career he has served in uniform patrol in the City of St. Catharines, the City of Niagara Falls and the Town of Grimsby. He has worked in and supervised several units including, Street Crime, Criminal Investigations, Mobile Surveillance, Morality/Guns, Gangs and Grows, Major Crime and Communications. 

As a Senior Officer, Deputy Chief Greco was assigned to Professional Standards, Operational Support, Professional Development and most recently served as the Superintendent of Executive Services.

Deputy Chief Greco is committed to  upholding the law, ensuring public safety, and fostering positive community relations.  He has consistently exhibited strong leadership skills, sound judgment, and a dedication to serving the diverse needs of our communities.

Deputy Chief Greco is known for his ability to lead by example, inspire colleagues, and build strong relationships both within the Service and with external partners. He is committed to fostering a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement within the Niagara Regional Police Service.

Deputy Chief Greco, works closely with the Chief of Police and other senior leaders to develop and implement strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing public safety, reducing crime, strengthening community engagement, and member wellness.

He is dedicated to ensuring that the Niagara Regional Police Service remains responsive to the evolving needs of the community while upholding the values of fairness, respect, and compassion.

Deputy Chief Greco has received numerous Commendations and awards throughout his career, including receiving the Police Exemplary Service medal in 2019, recognizing 20 years of service to our community.

Deputy Chief Greco is a graduate of Niagara College and is also a graduate of the Police Leadership Program from the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management Executive Programs.  Deputy Chief Greco continues to pursue ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with the latest advancements in law enforcement practices and technologies.

He is a member of the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP), Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP), and the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP).

Through his unwavering commitment to duty and service, Deputy Chief Greco remains dedicated to building a healthy and inclusive workplace and to making Niagara a safer and more vibrant region for all its residents and visitors.
